Contact the Youth Council or Matthew Lawson (918 807 1471) with questions. Sign-up sheet in Youth Couch Room, on wall Youth Director Search Presently we have received 8 inquires regarding our Director of Youth Ministries position; we have invited 5 to an initial “get acquainted meeting” (of which three came to visit with us) and we are now inviting three to participate in a more in depth interview with members of our SPRC, Youth Council, and Youth Director Transition Team. At this point we have no way of know if any of the ones we interview will be a good match of our position, but we are actively pursing all possibilities. If you know someone who might be interested in visiting about this position, please have them contact Pastor Schneider. Interim Youth Program Presently a team consisting of Mr. Gerry Holmes, Heather Graham, Diana Kennedy, Tabitha McClanahan, and Matthew Lawson are working as a Youth Director Transition Team. Matthew is organizing arraignments for the Spring Break Sky Trip; Tabitha and Heather are sharing responsibilities for the Sunday School, and Mr. Gerry, Heather, and Diana are overseeing the Wednesday youth program. If there are others who can lend a hand, your efforts will be appreciated—please contact Pastor Schneider if you can help. We certainly appreciate the efforts of those who are helping keep our youth program active during this time of transition. Poinsettias are now being ordered to adorn our Sanctuary during the Advent season. Poinsettias can be ordered in memory of (or in honor of) a loved one. The cost of the poinsettias this year is $19.50. You can order these by filling out an order form (included with your morning worship bulletin) or by coming by or calling our church office. We will want to make sure we have your memorial information correct as these names will be included in the bulletin for Christmas eve.
Every year, during the season of Advent, we take a special offering titled the Christ in the Manger Offering. A letter, from Pastor Schneider, along with an offering envelope will be mailed to each of our active and constituent members. We encourage you to bring your offering on Christmas eve; every penny received during this service of worship will go towards various mission projects supported by this church. If you are unable to attend on Christmas eve, you are welcome to place this envelope (or a check identified as Christmas offering in the memo line) in the offering plate on Sunday morning. (You can also mail or bring these by the church office.)
A list with all of our Missional Apportionments and Congregational Opportunities is available for those who would like to “adopt” a mission. We encourage all to give generously to this special offering, the fruits of which will make a difference in the lives of so many! We will be taking pictures for our new 2020 Church Directory starting January 16th & 17th from 1pm to 8pm & Saturday the 18th from 10am to 5pm. There will be multiple ways to sign up for your photo session, they are listed below. For further information regarding the directory please call the office or Mrs. Gerri Holmes, thank you!
We will lift up the theme of Thanksgiving in our morning services of worship on Sunday, November 24. this will be a service in which we will sing the great songs of Thanksgiving, share our testimonies and hear a message on the importance of gratitude in our life. Sunday evening all are invited to participate in a community service of thanksgiving sponsored by the Sapulpa Ministerial Alliance. That service will be at 6:30 at the Church.
Sunday, November 24, is the Sunday in which we will begin to decorate our church for the season of Advent. It is “all hands on deck” and everyone invited to a decorating party at 5:00, Sunday evening. We will need workers to decorate the sanctuary, halls, class rooms, family life center etc. Everyone is invited to bring some snack foods to share with all as we eat, visit, share, and dress our church in it’s Advent décor.
It has been a blessing to be a part of God’s ministry the last 2.5 years at Sapulpa First United Methodist Church. We have overcome many obstacles and allowed God to move in many areas. We have traveled the great state of Oklahoma along with a greater part of the US. We have been filled with the Spirit and been brought to new life by all the wonderful things God has shown us.
As I begin to reminisce on my time as Youth Minister, I cannot choose one time that stood out from another, because I truly feel that every moment has been a blessing! The Spirit of God has moved among us and we have been shown that he can be alive in every moment. This season of youth ministry has been a great one for our church! The new season of the ministry is beginning quickly and I am excited to see where God takes our church and this youth ministry! It is with great sadness and joy that I write this last article for the crossbeams at Sapulpa. This is not goodbye but see you later. I will be around as I currently am planning to stay in the area, until God unfolds the rest of His plan for my families life! Happy fall from the Children’s Department! We want to give a big thank you to everyone who donated candy, helped out and participated in our Trunk or Treat this year, it was a huge success!
After a brief hiatus we have resumed our Wednesday night program for children 1st through 5th grade, join us at 6:15 P.M.-7:15 P.M. each Wednesday night for a ton of fun! Checkout our FUMC Sapulpa Children’s Ministry Facebook Page for all the details on each night’s theme. We are hosting a Toys for Friends drive and will start collecting toys for local children Wednesday November 6th at our children’s night program. If you would like to help us with this bring a new unwrapped toy and drop it off at in the bin that will be located in the children’s Sunday school room. We will be collecting the toys until December 15th. I know it still seems so far away but soon we will start preparing for our children’s Christmas Program, it will be here quicker than we think! This year we will be using a new program called Jingle Jam and we are excited to try it out! Next month the children will be decorating sugar cookies to pass out to the congregation, if you have any cookie decorating or baking supplies you’d like to donate to this cause please drop them off in the children’s Sunday school room or get in contact with Keri Bunting. As always we are looking for volunteers for all of our programs! Very flexible opportunities to serve, we have a blessed group of children!
