United Women
in Faith

United Women in Faith

United Women in Faith (UWF) is a supportive, inclusive Christian membership organization where women like you grow spiritually, develop as leaders and serve and work to create a world in which all women, children and youth thrive. Our members nurture one another in community and support U.S. and international projects and partners improving the lives of women, children and youth with their prayers, volunteer and advocacy efforts, and financial gifts.

Any woman who commits herself to the purpose of United Women in Faith and to engage in mission, study, personal growth and social action can join. You don’t have to be United Methodist or meet an age requirement to be a member.
United Women in Faith is a community of women committed to mission. As a member you can take advantage of many opportunities, including the following:
• Prayer, Bible studies and spiritual retreats.
• Hands-on mission in local communities.
• Mission education experiences.
• Leadership development and training opportunities.
• Supporting work with women, children and youth.
• Partnership with women in mission in the country and around the world.
• Advocacy for social justice issues, including those pertaining to the environment, domestic violence, immigration and the many other concerns that impact the lives of women, children and youth.
• Engagement in racial justice issues.
We are faith, hope and love in action.
FAITH Thousands of women participate in our reading programs and educational opportunities annually to grow spiritually, become more deeply rooted in Christ and put faith into action.
HOPE Our national mission institutions empower women, care for children, educate and equip youth, care for the neglected, advocate for social justice issues, create economic opportunities and strengthen neighborhoods.
LOVE Our members give out of their love for the world and provide financial support for national mission institutions, higher education scholarships for international students, and 121 programs taking place in 110 countries.
ACTION United Methodist Women members’ voices are heard around the world as they call for justice on issues such as immigration, human trafficking, domestic violence, health care and the environment.

Our Local Unit Meeting

The Unit Meeting is open to all women of faith and is offered on the 4th Saturday of each month, during the school year.

Our unit participates with the Stillwater district by attending Spiritual Day Apart in the and Annual District Meeting.  We participate with the State of Oklahoma Conference by attending Spiritual Growth Retreat and Annual Conference Meeting.  Members attend Conference hands-on mission work at Cookson Hills Mission Center in Cookson, Oklahoma and plan to attend Neighborhood Santa Operation at Neighborhood Services Organization in Oklahoma City.  Members also attend Mission U.

We raise funds for our mission work by member pledges, spring and fall rummages sales, and other fundraisers throughout the year.

Our Unit supports mission work within our church with donations and hands-on: Needy Family Fund (Christmas Gifts), Memorials, Armed Forces, Cross & Flame Roadshow, Cross & Flame Café, Pumpkin Patch, Backpack Program, Kids Closet, Community Care and Salvation Army.

Our Unit donation to world mission is combined with all other UWF units.  This is from our UWF structure, we are a connectionalism church.  An example of connectionalism: Mission work around the world, whether it be a new university in Africa or bicycles for Cuban Pastors, is the work of "the connection," an opposed to the work of a single congregation.

The Circles

Presently, we have two Circles which involve a smaller group of women with the focus on fellowship, devotion, and sharing.
Joy Circle is held in the parlor at 6 pm the first Thursday of the month.
  • Joy Circle missions include: Layettes for Creek County Health Department Mothers First, cards to our service men and women and an Angel from the Christmas Wreath at Christmas.
Esther Circle is held in the parlor at 9:30 am the second Thursday of the month.
  • Esther Circle was formed in 1955.  We select various missions as or projects, which include prayer-grams and cards for our ill church members and an Angel from the Christmas Wreath at Christmas.
